I like this painting for its simplicity in color and shapes. The artist used a limited color palette which  gives the painting nice color harmony. Staying away from sharp color he didn't go overboard in putting a bunch of details which lets the eye glide around the canvas. I think this lends the painting an overall feeling of tranquility. A successful painting.

Impressionist style seascape in harmonious tones with confident paint application applied in thick strokes and superb use of color. This painting is stunning in person. Oil on panel. Includes original frame which shows minor wear.

Erik Olson Original Mid Century Print Sweden Click Here for More Information or to Purchase  I am continuously surprised and sometimes a bit saddened by what is available in charity shops and flea markets here in Sweden. Some of the artwork that I sell online at   Vintage Art Room   is found at "loppis" (flea market) here. When I am at "loppisar" (plural for flea market!) I have to sort through a lot of artwork- it's a very dirty job actually. I think that for every 100-150 paintings I look at I am lucky to find one good one. The Swede's were quite prolific painters both amateurs and professional up until about the 70's. A fantastic moody expressionist seascape oil painting by, Swedish painter and listed artist, Einar Emland. E Emland studied painting with Jules Schyl at Tekniska Skolan, and with Wilhelm Grüttrud in Oslo, with Rostrup Bøyesen in Copenhagen and at Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris 1946-1951.    Emland liked to depict everyday people and happenings and believed that art should available to everyone not just the wealthy.  Emland was a very productive painter other depicting faceless figures, landscapes and still lifes.
