Large mid century original oil painting signed by Swedish artist Ragnar Lindquist (1906-1986). Beautiful still life with terracotta bust in clear bright colors rendered in an impressionistic style. There is no hesitation in the paint strokes that were applied making this a solid painting on so many levels. This painting just glows! Painting is in its original custom frame which shows some wear. Vintage Seascape Oil Painting from Sweden by Alf Ivar

Image
Vintage Seascape Oil Painting  by Alf Ivar Andersson  SOLD Click Here to Purchase or For More Information I like this painting for its simplicity in color and shapes. The artist used a limited color palette which  gives the painting nice color harmony. Staying away from sharp color he didn't go overboard in putting a bunch of details which lets the eye glide around the canvas. I think this lends the painting an overall feeling of tranquility. A successful painting.  Lovely stunning vintage seascape from Sweden signed Alf Ivar by Alf Ivar Andersson (b1914) from Gothenburg, Sweden. Impressionist style seascape in harmonious tones with confident paint application applied in thick strokes and superb use of color. This painting is stunning in person. Oil on panel. Includes original frame which shows minor wear.  Measurements: Painting including frame measures: 50cm H x 60cm W  Condition: Good condition If you are interested in m...

Erik Olson Original Mid Century Print Sweden

Erik Olson Original Mid Century Print Sweden Click Here for More Information or to Purchase  I am continuously surprised and sometimes a bit saddened by what is available in charity shops and flea markets here in Sweden. Some of the artwork that I sell online at   Vintage Art Room   is found at "loppis" (flea market) here. When I am at "loppisar" (plural for flea market!) I have to sort through a lot of artwork- it's a very dirty job actually. I think that for every 100-150 paintings I look at I am lucky to find one good one. The Swede's were quite prolific painters both amateurs and professional up until about the 70's. I don't find much work produced in the 80's and on.  When I come across pieces like this print mid century print by Erik Olson of the Swedish art circle Halmstadgruppen I am amazed.  There is a museum here in Sweden devoted solely to the Halmstad Group called Mjellby Art Museum . The museum says that the Halmstad G...

Mid Century Self Portrait Oil Painting

Image
Original Mid Century Self Portrait Oil Painting by Wanda L from Sweden Click Here for More Information or to Purchase SOLD  I absolutely love finding portraits and this one was quite a find. I think it is the first self portrait I've found. The signature is Wanda L and dated 1961. It's actually a double self portrait of the artist painting herself. The time period is well captured with her mod haircut and striped shirt. The colors are clear and harmonious and there is a certain strength to the composition. You can tell Wanda L was a very confident artist. I am not sure Wanda was from Sweden. Looking at her writing on the back of the painting I wonder if she was possibly from Poland.  Very large mid century vintage original oil painting signed Wanda from 1961 in original simple pine frame. Great expressive double self portrait of the artist with in clear bright colors with excellent paint handling and composition. I love the period colors and her mod mid cen...
