I absolutely love finding portraits and this one was quite a find. I think it is the first self portrait I've found. The signature is Wanda L and dated 1961. It's actually a double self portrait of the artist painting herself. The time period is well captured with her mod haircut and striped shirt. The colors are clear and harmonious and there is a certain strength to the composition. You can tell Wanda L was a very confident artist. I am not sure Wanda was from Sweden. Looking at her writing on the back of the painting I wonder if she was possibly from Poland. 


Very large mid century vintage original oil painting signed Wanda from 1961 in original simple pine frame. Great expressive double self portrait of the artist with in clear bright colors with excellent paint handling and composition. I love the period colors and her mod mid century haircut. Painting is in very good condition. Frame shows wear. Price is 200USD

Some of the artwork that I sell online at   Vintage Art Room   is found at "loppis" (flea market) here. When I am at "loppisar" (plural for flea market!) I have to sort through a lot of artwork- it's a very dirty job actually. I think that for every 100-150 paintings I look at I am lucky to find one good one. The Swede's were quite prolific painters both amateurs and professional up until about the 70's.
