Vintage fine art oil painting of a hare in the forest by Swedish artist Nils Enquist (1905-1991) titled "The Hunted Hare on the Run". Nils Enquist was a student of one of Sweden's most famous wildlife painters, Bruno Liljefors. He also studied in Copenhagen and Stockholm. I think this painting speaks for itself. 95USD

Cat's mother was from Sweden so he spent some time here as a child. He credits his Uncle Hugo as a creative inspiration in this article from the English language newspaper in Sweden, The Local.  Mid Century mixed media artwork by Hugo Wickman (1904-1962) from 1959. Interesting use of materials with pleasing color harmonies and composition. Wickman is represented in several museum collections in Sweden and was the uncle of 1970's icon Cat Stevens. Cat Stevens is quoted as considering him one of his main creative influences as a child. Is already framed but would look impressive framed as is in a shadow box. Frame shows wear. Erik Olson Original Mid Century Print Sweden Click Here for More Information or to Purchase  I am continuously surprised and sometimes a bit saddened by what is available in charity shops and flea markets here in Sweden. Some of the artwork that I sell online at   Vintage Art Room   is found at "loppis" (flea market) here. When I am at "loppisar" (plural for flea market!) I have to sort through a lot of artwork- it's a very dirty job actually. I think that for every 100-150 paintings I look at I am lucky to find one good one. The Swede's were quite prolific painters both amateurs and professional up until about the 70's. I don't find much work produced in the 80's and on.  When I come across pieces like this print mid century print by Erik Olson of the Swedish art circle Halmstadgruppen I am amazed.  There is a museum here in Sweden devoted solely to the Halmstad Group called Mjellby Art Museum . A fantastic moody expressionist seascape oil painting by, Swedish painter and listed artist, Einar Emland. E Emland studied painting with Jules Schyl at Tekniska Skolan, and with Wilhelm Grüttrud in Oslo, with Rostrup Bøyesen in Copenhagen and at Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris 1946-1951.    Emland liked to depict everyday people and happenings and believed that art should available to everyone not just the wealthy.  Emland was a very productive painter other depicting faceless figures, landscapes and still lifes.
